Philosophy

We live in an age and culture of tremendous ambition, achievement and productivity. Many of us are “achievement junkies,” constantly aspiring for ever-greater accomplishments and productivity in every realm of our lives. Most of us are also more than willing to work long and hard to achieve our goals. Sometimes, however, the pursuit of our lofty ambitions comes at enormous cost to our health and relationships. More and more, this seems to be the case for individuals, families and organizations.

Finucan—Peterson Consultants Ltd. believe that success in life is not measured by our achievements alone. We must also gauge our success in terms of health, relationships and well-being. To achieve these often-overlooked elements of success, we do not have to turn away from our ambitions, goals and accomplishments. Instead, we need to balance our pursuit of “success,” “results,” and “productivity” with the pursuit of health, relationships and well-being.

Values

Ethics and Integrity

We practice and promote the achievement of personal, educational and organizational goals in manner that is responsible and respectful towards individuals and society.

Theory and Practice

We base our products and services on a foundation of research and experience. We strive to offer advice that is practical, but also theoretically sound.

Balance and Integration

We practice and promote an integrated and holistic view of health and achievement.

Diversity

We recognize and celebrate the fact that individuals and groups have unique, as well as common, needs, perspectives and experiences. We are all enriched by sharing and respecting each others’ reality.

Informed Skepticism of Professional Expertise

We fully acknowledge and respect the invaluable role that professionals and experts play in our increasingly complex society. Nevertheless, we must recognize that professionals and experts often make mistakes, in both the performance of their roles and the advice they provide to clients. We believe, therefore, that individual consumers must take the time and effort to inform themselves about their own best interests. Moreover, individual consumers have a right and responsibility to question, and if necessary, challenge the practices and recommendations of professionals and experts.

Disclaimers

We strive to provide our clients with current, accurate and complete information about issues and concerns related to achievement and well-being. However, because of the information explosion related to the topics of achievement and well-being, and to the range of professional opinions related to these topics, it is not always possible for us to provide current, accurate and complete information and advice. Moreover, because we ourselves are not “experts” in these areas, but rather informed researchers and consumers, we encourage our clients to consult appropriate authorities and professionals to obtain additional opinions and advice. We passionately promote consumer education and empowerment. Accordingly, responsibility for interpreting and acting upon any information or advice we provide, rests exclusively with our clients. We assume no responsibility for any injury or damage that may result to any parties on the basis of the information and advice provided by Finucan—Peterson Consultants Ltd. or its partners and associates.
